Bender Lands on All-Great Lakes Region Team

Complete United Soccer Coaches Division III All-Great Lakes Region team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Baldwin Wallace University senior four-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC forward Rachel Bender (Massillon/Jackson) has been named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Great Lakes Region team.

A second-team All-Great Lakes Region selection a season ago, Bender lands on this year's first team to earn her third career regional honor. Once again, she led both the Yellow Jackets and the conference in most offensive categories. Her team-high 143 shots, 16 assists and 44 points topped the conference standings while her team-leading 14 goals tied for third in the OAC. Bender capped off her four-year career with 60 goals, 37 assists, 157 points and 18 game-winning goals. She will graduate with the school's single-season and career assist records and finished second all-time in career goals and career points scored.

Her other career accolades include four All-OAC first team selections, 2017 OAC Co-Forward of the Year, 2018 OAC Forward of the Year, two OAC All-Tournament Team selections, three OAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors, three Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) All-Ohio selections and two Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament Most Valuable Player awards. Academically, Bender is a two-time Academic All-OAC selection, a two-time OCSA Academic All-Ohio selection, a three-time Academic All-District 7 honoree and a 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America selection.

BW finished the 2018 campaign with an 11-7-1 record and a 5-4 mark in the conference, advancing to the OAC Tournament for the sixth consecutive season.
