Slater '14 Tabbed as Head Women’s Golf Coach

BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University Director of Athletics Steve Thompson has announced the hiring of Brandon Slater '14 as the University's next head women's golf coach.

"We are excited to have Brandon back in the Yellow Jacket family," said Thompson.  "His excitement and passion for the game of golf along with his focus on teaching the game is going to elevate our program to new heights."

Slater, who is a PGA Associate Professionalreturns to Berea after serving as the head girls golf coach at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado this past season.  He also is a private golf intructor and worked as a service member at the Broken Tee Golf Course.

"I am very excited to be coaching the women's golf team at my alma mater," stated Slater. "I have no doubt our student-athletes are anxious about getting back to work and taking the next steps to winning an OAC championship. We will have a focus on short game and mental preparation. Practices will be structured with emphasis on competing. I want to thank the administration and team captains for the opportunity to coach the team. I am extremely thankful to lead this great group of athletes."

Slater earned a Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting and mass communication and philosophy.  While at BW, he was two-year letter winning defensive lineman.  He appeared in 14 varsity games and recorded 15 tackles, including two for a loss.  Off the field, Slater was a play-by-player announcer for WBWC 88.3 FM.
