BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team under the direction of first-year head coach Brandon Slater looks to climb in the Ohio Athletic Conference rankings in 2023-24.

Coach Slater, who took over the program in mid-August, returns five letterwinners and two Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference performers from last year's squad that finished seventh at the OAC Championships last spring.

Headlining the returners are junior Academic All-OAC golfer Brooke Newsome (Clyde), junior Halle Kalaman (Tallmadge/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) and sophomore Alana Smith (Fremont/Ross). The trio are the top three returning player averages with Newsome leading the way with a career-best 90.37.   Kalaman was second on the squad with a 92.00 and Smith was fourth with a 92.95.

Other returners for Coach Slater are senior Chloe Thomas (Norwalk) and junior Academic All-OAC golfer Steph Neff (Seven Hills/Padua Franciscan).

BW opens the fall portion of its schedule on Saturday and Sunday, September 2 and 3 when it travels to Harrison to compete in the Mount St. Joseph University Stateline Shootout at the Miami Whitewater Forest Golf Course.

The 2024 spring season begins with the annual spring break trip on March 3-10.
