Women's Golf 2022-23 Season Preview

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team under the direction of fourth-year coach Andrew Edgar is ready to hit the links for the 2022-23 season. 

Edgar, who is in fourth season, returns five letterwinners and one Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer from last year's squad that finished fifth at the OAC Championships. The team will feature one senior, one junior, five sophomores and two freshmen.

Highlighting the returners are sophomores Brooke Newsome (Clyde) and Lauren Neher (Norwalk /Edison), and junior Morgan Briley (Brunswick). Newsome was second on the team a year ago with a career-best 93.47 stroke average, including firing a career-low round of of 84 at the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational.  Neher was third on the squad a season ago with a career-best 94.00 stroke average, including a career-low round of 84 at the Heidelberg Universoty Fall Invitational. Briley finished fifth on the team in 2021-22 with a career-best 95.07 stroke average, including posting a career-low round of 91 at the John Carroll University Fall Shootout.

In addition, junior Academic All-OAC selection Kaitlynn Olak (Norwalk/St. Paul), junior Chloe Thomas (Norwalk) and sophomores Steph Neff (Seven Hills /Padua Franciscan) and Lexy Kovach (Strongsville /Magnificat) bring veteran leadership to the starting lineup.

BW opens the 2022 fall campaign on August 27 and 28 when it travels to Defiance to compete in the Defiance University Fall Invitational at the Moose Landing Country Club in Ottawa.  The Yellow Jackets will host the BW Fall Invitational on October 30 at the Valley of the Eagles Golf Club, which is the only Jack Nicklaus Design daily-fee course in Northern Ohio.
