Edwards Headlines Women’s Basketball All-OAC Selections

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Freshman forward Lilly Edwards (Dublin/Coffman) headlines the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections as she was named OAC Freshman of the Year.

Both Edwards and junior guard Riley Schill (Sheffield Village/Elyria Catholic) landed on the second team while junior guard Kasey Hughes (Springboro) was tabbed as an honorable mention.

In her first collegiate season, Edwards has posted team-leading numbers of 13.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game to rank ninth and eighth, respectively, in the OAC. She also leads the team with 117 made field goals and tied for the team lead with 65 made free throws. Edwards also is shooting 50.6 percent from the floor, second best on the squad and eighth best in the conference. She has dished out 14 assists, nabbed 20 steals and blocked five shots.

An honorable mention selection a season ago, Schill earns her second career All-OAC honor after averaging 8.4 points and a career-high 3.3 rebounds per game. She leads the team and is second in the OAC in steals (54) and fourth in assists (92). Schill's 81.3 free-throw percentage also ranks third in the OAC and she ties Edwards with her 65 made free throws. For her career, the junior has scored 633 points, grabbed 207 rebounds, made 186 free throws, dished out 231 assists, made 105 steals and blocked nine shots.

Hughes garners her first All-OAC accolade after a season where she has averaged career highs of 9.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. She is second on the team with 74 made field goals and ties for the team lead with 29 made three-pointers. The junior also has 48 assists, 25 steals and one block to her credit this season. For her career, Hughes has scored 472 points, grabbed 142 rebounds, made 63 three-pointers, dished out 118 assists, made 61 steals and blocked six shots.

BW will take on Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.) on Friday, March 1, at 5 p.m. in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Tournament, hosted by Messiah (Pa.) College.
