Six Women's Basketball Student-Athletes Named to Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Six Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA. 

Senior forward Rachel Womeldorf (Lewis Center/Olentangy), senior guard MacKenzi Matthews (North Royalton), junior two-time All-OAC guard Riley Schill (Sheffield Village/Elyria Catholic), junior All-OAC guard Kasey Hughes (Springboro), junior guard/forward Kara Marshall (Copley/Archbishop Hoban) and junior guard/forward Mary Schentur (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) are six of the 23 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this winter.

Womeldorf, who earns her third career Academic All-OAC honor, is a mathematics major who carries a 3.92 GPA. Off the court, she is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, the treasurer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of Teaching Together. Womeldorf also received the BW Academic Excellence Award for having the highest GPA on the team in 2016-17 and the 2017-18 BW Academic Excellence Award for having the highest GPA in the junior class. For her career, she appeared in 108 games with 52 starts and averaged 5.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game while shooting 52 percent from the floor.

Matthews, who also garners her third consecutive Academic All-OAC accolade, is a sport management major who carries a 3.54 GPA. She is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, a member of the Sport Management Club and a part of the Event Management and Leadership groups. In her career, Matthews appeared in 82 games and averaged 1.7 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.

Schill, who is named to her second Academic All-OAC team, is a biology major who carries a 3.99 GPA. The junior is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the BW Honors Program and the 2017-18 recipient of the BW Academic Excellence Award for having the highest GPA on the team. Across her three-year career, Schill has appeared in 80 games with 54 starts and averages 8.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Hughes, who earns her second career Academic All-OAC honor, is a public relations major who carries a 3.85 GPA. Off the court, she is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). For her career, Hughes has appeared in 74 games with 73 starts and averages 6.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.9 steals per game.

Marshall, who also garners her second consecutive Academic All-OAC accolade, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.72 GPA. She is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Pre-Physical Therapy Club. In her career, Marshall has appeared in 79 games with 33 starts and averages 5.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor. 

Schentur, who is named to her second Academic All-OAC team, is a mathematical economics major who carries a 3.79 GPA. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, Schentur has appeared in 39 games with seven starts and averages 5.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the three-point line.
