BW Hires Alyson Campbell as Head Women's Golf Coach and Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University has named Alyson Campbell Head Women's Golf Coach and Assistant Women's Basketball Coach.  Campbell, a 2008 graduate of the College and a native of Salem, Ohio, is a former student-athlete at BW when she carried the maiden name of Alyson Cotter.

Campbell returns to her alma mater after spending the past two years as an assistant coach at Padua High School and serving as a aerobics, fitness and wellness professional.

"We welcome Alyson back to Baldwin Wallace University and to our athletics family," said third-year Athletic Director Kris A. Diaz. "She will direct our outstanding women's golf program and assist Cheri Harrer with all aspects of our nationally-renown women's basketball program.  Her goal is to help both teams win an NCAA Division III national title."

Campbell joins Harrer's staff and a Yellow Jacket women's basketball program that has reached the Division III NCAA Tournament 11 times in the past 15 seasons.  She also takes over a women's golf program that returned its entire roster from last spring and inherits a team that has already earned two tournament victories as well as two other top three finishes this fall and currently owns a 36-4 record.

"We are pleased to welcome back Alyson to Baldwin Wallace University," said Harrer, who enters this season with 415 career wins to rank second all-time in Ohio Athletic Conference history. "Alyson brings solid teaching skills and enthusiasm to the program and will be a solid addition to our staff."

"As a student-athlete at BW, Alyson had a strong work ethic and was an excellent student,"continued Harrer. "She understands the balance between academics and athletics and already is developing an excellent rapport with our basketball and golf student-athletes."

While at BW, Campbell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management and was a two-year standout on a pair of Harrer teams that won OAC titles. As a freshman in 2004-2005, she played in all 29 games for the 23-6 overall Yellow Jackets as they captured the OAC regular season and OAC Tournament titles and advanced to the 2005 NCAA Division III National Tournament. As a sophomore in 2005-2006, Campbell appeared in all 32 contests for the Jackets as they compiled a 27-5 mark, won the OAC regular season title and advanced to the "Elite Eight" of the NCAA tourney.  During her two years on the varsity, Campbell scored 357 points, grabbed 185 rebounds, passed for 42 assists, blocked 35 shots and made 38 steals. Following the 2005-2006 season, Campbell left the program to study abroad in Australia in 2006-2007.

In addition, Campbell to excelling on the basketball court at BW, she was a Dean's List student and graduated Magna Cum Laude.  She also was a Freshman Orientation Leader, the Secretary of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of the Sport Management Club.

"I am very pleased to be back at Baldwin Wallace University and to have the opportunity to work with our female student-athletes in the sports of golf and basketball," said Campbell, who officially began her duties on Sept. 24. "We have a rich tradition in each sport and both programs have a solid base for success."

"I look forward to developing the talent on both programs and hope to make a positive influence on each young woman both academically and athletically," continued Campbell. "I had an outstanding experience as a student-athlete while at BW and I hope to help each young woman do the same."

While at Salem High School, Campbell was a four-sport student-athlete in basketball, golf, soccer and track and earned nine varsity letters. She was named All-Metro Athletic Conference (MAC) on six occasions, a four-time All-Columbiana County selection and was tabbed All-District on three occasions.   In addition, Campbell was selected as the MAC Player of the Year for basketball during her senior campaign.

Campbell and her husband, Devon, reside in Bay Village.
