Softball Falls to Muskingum in OAC and NFCA Strikeout Cancer Doubleheader

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team fell to Muskingum University in an Ohio Athletic Conference and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Strikeout Cancer doubleheader on the 23d Street Softball Field.

In game one, BW (14-10, 4-2 OAC) was held scoreless for the second time of the season on five hits.  Muskingum (17-7, 4-2 OAC) scored two runs on five hits as it pushed both of its runs across the plate in the third.

At the Plate

  • Sophomore Gillian Ryser (Hubbard) went 2-for-3 with a walk
  • Three other Yellow Jackets had a base knock led by senior Academic All-OAC center fielder Lexy Coggins (Vermilion/Firelands) with a double

In the Circle

  • Junior right hander Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton) suffered the loss as she allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

In game two, BW scored one run on seven runs as it plated its lone one run in the second.  The Fighting Muskies scored two runs on six hits as they pushed one runs across the plate in the fifth and one in sixth.

At the Plate

  • Ryser went 2-for-3 with a run scored
  • Five other Yellow Jacket hitters had a base knock led by sophomore right handed pitcher Maddie Lester (Boardman) with a double and senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC second baseman Emily Mau (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) with a run batted-in

In the Circle

  • Lester (Boardman) took the loss as she allowed two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks

BW is back in action on Wednesday, April 17 when it hosts an OAC doubleheader against Heidelberg University on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex at 3 p.m.
