Murphy Earns Second Weekly OAC Runner of the Week Honor This Season

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – For the second time in her career and for the second consecutive week, Baldwin Wallace University sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) has been selected as the OAC Runner of the Week. 

Murphy earns the weekly honor after finishing firstat the All-Ohio Division III Championships hosted by Cedarville University on the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course to help BW to an 11th place out of 33 Division III teams.  She crossed the finish line in a time of 18:06.9 to earn her first All-Ohio honor.  Murphy was the top Division III runner but was sixth overall out of 33 NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA runners.

This season, she has won all thre races that she has competed in.  Murphy has a season-best 5k time of 18:06.9 and a 6k time of 22:58.8

For her career, Murphy is the 2021 OAC Cross Country Runner of the Year as well as the 2022 OAC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Distance Runner of the Year and a 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field All-American.  She has a career-best 5k time of 18:06.9 and a 6k time of 22:12.5

Off the course, Murphy is a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

BW is back in action on Saturday, October 1st when it travels to East Lansing, Michigan to compete in the NCAA Division III National Preview hosted by Hope College on the Forest Akers Golf Course.
