Women's Cross Country 2022 Season Preview

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team under the direction of eighth-year coach Joe Eby are ready to hit the course for the 2022 season. 

Coach Eby returns 10 letterwinners, one All-Ohio Athletic Conference runner, including the OAC Champion, and three Academic All-OAC selections from last year's team that finished fourth at the OAC Championships.

Highlighting the returners are defending OAC Women's Champion and OAC Runner of the year, sophomore All-OAC runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) and sophomore Academic All-OAC selection Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester). Murphy won the OAC Championshop with a 6K time of 23:01.0 and then placed sixth with a career-best 6k time of 22.12.5 at NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Championships. She advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships where she placed 194th with a 6k time of 23:05.7. Kolonchuk finished 44th at the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 6k time of 25:55.5 and had a season-best 6k time of 24:34.8 at NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Championship.  

In addition, junior Academic All-OAC selection Maddie Miller (Medina), sophomores Ellie Burns (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption), Maura Devine (Baden, Pa. / Ambridge Area), Jaelyn Jaquay (Cherry Valley, N.Y. / Springfield Central), Academic All-OAC Kamaria Montgomery (Louisville / Canton GlenOak), Molly Skinner (Dayton / National Trail), Cori Wentz (Mansfield / Ontario) and Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) look to bring veteran leadership to the line start.   

The Yellow Jackets open the 2022 campaign on September 1 when they travel to Wooster to compete in the annual College of Wooster Invitational on the L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course.
