Select BW Women Compete at OWU Althoff Meet

DELAWARE, Ohio – Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the annual Ohio Wesleyan University Ron Althoff Natioonal Qualifying Meet at Selby Stadium. Four individual Yellow Jacket competitors won events.

For the Yellow Jacket women, junior three-time Division III All-American heptathlete Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Monroe Falls) won the 200-meter dash in 24.86 seconds, junior All-American Kim Gallavan (Auburn Twp./ Kenston) won the discus with a throw of 146-feet and four and one-half inches (146'4.5") and junior Maggie Urban (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) won the hammer throw with a toss of 176'4".

In addition to the 200-meter dash, Winters placed second in the long jump with a season-best leap of 18'10" and 100-meter hurdles in a season-best 14.19 seconds and placed third in ghe high junp with a leap of 5'2.25". Gallavan also was third in both the hammer throw at 166'11" and shot put at 42'6.75".  Also, sophomore Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/ Western Reserve) was third in the discus at 138'5.5".

BW is back in action thist Friday, May 15 when select Yellow Jacket competitors travel to Naperville, Illinois to compete at the annual Gregory Track Invitational at North Central College. The 2015 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet is from May 22-24 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
