BEXLEY, Ohio - On an afternoon where junior All-OAC midfielder Deanna Loukas (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Eastchester) scored her 100th career goal, the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team fell to Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest by a final score of 22-9 on the Purmort Field inside of the Bernlohr Stadium.

BW (3-10, 1-3 OAC) was led by Loukas as she tallied five goals and an assist, pushing her career total to 102 goals, the sixth-highest total in program history and the highest tally among active players. Loukas scored or assisted on two-thirds of the Yellow Jackets' goals against the Comets.

Sophomore attack Lauren Getchey (Perrysburg) and senior Academic All-OAC attack Sophia Leuma (Bloomington, Minn/Thomas Jefferson) also recorded multi-point games in the loss.

Capital (9-4, 4-2 OAC) was led by sophomore midfielder Grace Osborn's game-high nine points, which included seven goals and two assists. Graduate attack Luci Kanowsky added eight points on four goals and four assists for the Comets.

FIRST QUARTER

  • The Comets raced out of the gates, striking five times in the opening 4:14.
  • Leuma scored BW's first goal of the game at the 9:53 mark to snap the Capital run.
  • Two goals by Loukas and another by sophomore attack/midfielder Lily Tope (Delaware/Hayes) weren't enough to offset an offensive explosion by the Comets, who led 11-4 after one.

SECOND QUARTER

  • Loukas collected her 100th career goal with ten minutes left in the quarter, her third goal in the opening 20 minutes.
  • Capital outscored BW 6-1 in the second quarter and took a 17-5 lead into the break.

THIRD QUARTER

  • The Yellow Jackets struck first in the second half on a goal by Getchey at the 12:26 mark, assisted by Loukas.
  • Loukas' fourth goal of the afternoon made it a 19-7 game in the closing moments of the third.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Leuma added her second goal of the game with just over ten minutes to play.
  • Capital capped the 22-9 win with three late goals, but Loukas capped her record-setting day with her fifth goal of the game as time expired, assisted by Getchey.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, April 19, as they host an OAC contest against Ohio Northern University. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.
