BW Women's Lacrosse Falls to Alma

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team fell to Alma (Mich.) College, 15-2, today (Sunday, April 7, 2013) at Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.
 
The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 3-4 overall.  Alma improves to 12-1.
 
Junior midfielder Ellen Fedick (Rochester, N.Y./ Our Lady of Mercy) scored her sixth goal and registered her third assist of the season, and sophomore attack Nikki Bowman (Ashland/ Hillsdale) tallied her first career goal.

Freshman Ashton Street scored a game-high five goals and tallied an assist for Alma.  Senior Christie Havrilla and sophomore Tracy Gallihugh each had four goals, and sophomore Sydney Bryce scored twice.

Street scored at the 24:23 mark of the first half to give Alma a 1-0 lead.

Fedick provided the equalizer at 22:40, but the Scots used a 4-0 run, keyed by a pair of goals from Gallihugh, and took a 5-1 lead.

Bowman scored at the 6:17 mark to stop Alma's run and end BW's 16:23 scoring drought.  Fedick, who also scooped a team-high six groundballs, recorded the assist.

Bryce added a goal with less than a minute to play in the first half and sent Alma into the intermission with a 6-2 advantage.
 
The Scots scored nine second-half goals, including three man-up scores, and held BW scoreless over the game's final 36:16.

Alma outshot BW, 35-7, held a 53-31 advantage in groundballs, and controlled 13 of 19 draws.

Junior Bridget Walsh (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) logged all 60 minutes in goal and made 12 saves for the Yellow Jackets.  Stephanie Herman collected three saves in 60 minutes of action for Alma.
 
BW returns to action Friday, April 19 when it hosts Otterbein University at 7 p.m. before facing Franciscan University on Saturday, April 20 in Steubenville at 3 p.m.
