BEREA, Ohio – The No. 21 Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team hosted La Roche (Pa.) University for a non-conference matchup in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

The inside play for the Yellow Jackets (4-1) was too much for the Redhawks (3-2) to handle as BW notched 50 points in the paint, led by senior First Team All-OAC performer and Academic All-OAC forward Lilly Edwards (Dublin/Coffman). Edwards notched a career-high 29 points, and she also added nine rebounds and two assists to help BW claim the 76-49 victory.

BW shot 44.8% from the floor as a team, going 30-67. The Yellow Jackets also forced 20 La Roche turnovers and converted them into 19 points.

The Yellow Jackets earned the quick jump on the Redhawks, outscoring them 22-10 after 10 minutes of play. Rolling into the second quarter, two back-to-back shots from downtown from senior Academic All-OAC guard Megan Hensel (Upper Sandusky) helped BW grab a huge 28-10 lead. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Redhawks 11-7 to end the first half, earning BW the 39-27 advantage heading into the locker room.

It was a big third quarter for the Yellow Jackets as Edwards grabbed 10 points and helped BW to a 22-point 10-minute period. It was BW the rest of the way, earning the huge victory over the Redhawks by a 76-49 final score.

The Redhawks were led by senior guard Danajah Sanders who posted 14 points and three rebounds.

Hensel finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Senior Academic All-OAC forward Megan Scheibelhut (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) posted seven points and four boards for BW. Freshman forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) earned eight bench points and grabbed four rebounds. Sophomore forward Kira Philpot (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow) tallied six points and six rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets return to the court Wednesday, December 1 as BW is on the road to take on Heidelberg University for the conference opener. The big OAC matchup is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. inside Sieberling Gymnasium.
