Baldwin-Wallace Junior Catcher Tanya Davis Named Third-Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College junior softball catcherTanya Davis (Hinckley/ Medina Highland) has been named as third-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

To qualify, a student-athlete must be of sophomore or better standing academically with a minimum of a 3.3 grade point average and be a starter or key backup.

Davis, who carries a 3.92 grade point average in pre-physical therapy and athletic training, qualified for the team as a two-time first-teamESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV player and is en route to being the best player in Yellow Jacket softball history.

This season, Davis led B-W to a 23-17 overall record as she appeared in all 40 games, batted .409 (52-for-127) with 27 runs scored, nine doubles and a team-leading seven homeruns and 39 runs batted-in. Davis also stole eight bases in nine attempts, had a fine .987 fielding average with just two errors in 153 total chances and led the team with a .646 slugging and .434 on-base average.  After three seasons, Davis has a .404 career batting average (160-for-396) with 109 runs scored, 42 doubles, five triples, 16 homers, 117 RBI, 26 steals in 30 attempts and a .978 fielding average.  She is among the school's all-time leaders in every single hitting category.

In the classroom, Davis is a Dean's List student, a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies and a Jacket Scholar. She is a two-time Academic All-OAC selection and is a member of both COAST (College Association of Student Trainers) and the B-W Pre-Physical Therapy Club.
