BW Men's Golf Team Stands Fourth After First Day of Denison University Spring Invitational

GRANVILLE, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team stands fourth of 13 teams after the first day today (Saturday, April 9, 2011) of the annual Denison University Spring Invitational Tournament at the Granville Country Club in Granville, Ohio.  The second round will be played on Sunday with tee times beginning at 11:00 a.m.


The Yellow Jackets shot a 307-stroke team total to stand fourth.


BW was led by sophomore number-one player Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit), who shot a round of 72. Spalding is in fourth place individually on the par-71, 6,559-yard Granville C.C. layout. 
In addition in the team competition, junior Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Padua Fransican) and freshman Augie Ward (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) each shot a 78.  Freshman Chris Nader (Westlake) had a 79 and junior Matt Warren (Copley) carded an 82.

Playing as individuals, senior Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./ Mars Area) had a 77 and junior Kyle Lewis (Riverside, Calif./ Riverside Poly) had an 84.


Following the second day of the Denison tourney, BW will next play on April 17-18 at the 54-hole Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Invitational Tournament at the Cumberland Trails Golf Course in Columbus.
