The Yellow Jackets Men's Golf Team Place Ninth at Clarion (Pa.) University Invitational

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished ninth of 16 teams at the Clarion University Invitational today (Monday, September 13) after combining for a team total of 624 strokes after two days of play in Clarion, Pennsylvania. The Yellow Jackets were only one of two Division III teams to compete in the primarily DII field.

Leading the Yellow Jackets with a third place individual finish was sophomore Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit), this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week. Spalding carded a second consecutive 74, good for a 36-hole stroke total of 148. Following Spalding, senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference and ESPN Academic All-District IV student-athlete Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./ Mars Area) shot a 75 improving his score from yesterday by five shots for a 155 total. In addition, senior Matt Weiss (Concord/Mentor) carded a 77 to total 162, freshman Chris Nader (Westlake) shot an 81 for a total 163, and junior Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Parma Padua Franciscan) capped off the Jackets efforts with an 83 to finish at 164. The team combined for a score of 307 on the day.
 
BW next plays this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18-19 at the annual OAC Invite, hosted by John Carroll University at the Fowlers Mills G.C. in Chesterland, Ohio.
