OBERLIN, Ohio – In its final race before the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, the Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed eighth in the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College.

The women finished eighth out of 29 teams with 237 points.

On the women's side, the top finisher for the Yellow Jackets was sophomore Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) as the sophomore crossed the finish line in 10th place in 22:39.8, improving on her career-best time from two weeks ago at the All-Ohio Championships by 9.9 seconds.

Freshmen Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) and Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover) crossed the finish line within 1.5 seconds of each other, running 6k times of 23:30.7 and 23:32.2, respectively, to finish 40th and 41st, respectively. Marek and Kile each improved on their previous career-best times, also from the All-Ohio Championships: Marek by almost 23 seconds and Kile by just over 16 seconds.

More new career-bests were set by freshmen Rebecca Penrose (Springfield/Shawnee) and Lizzy Gilreath (Mentor) as the two freshmen rounded out the top five for the Yellow Jackets. Penrose placed 65th with a time of 23:52.3, which is 42.5 seconds faster than her previous career-best 6k time, and Gilreath crossed the finish line in 85th place in 24:15.4, improving on her career-best time by 19.5 seconds.

With two weeks until the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, the Yellow Jackets will fine tune their training to turn in more career-best times and improve on last year's sixth place finishes.

BW will travel to Tiffin for the OAC Championships hosted by Heidelberg University on Saturday, Oct. 28.
