Women's Cross Country Places Seventh at All-Ohio Championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio –The Baldwin Wallace men's and women's cross country teams each finished in seventh place at the annual All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
 
Division I, II and III as well as NAIA and Junior College teams all compete at the All-Ohio Championships with the top-35 runners in each division receiving All-Ohio honors.
 
The Yellow Jackets finished seventh out of 18 Division III teams with 206 points and 19th out of 40 total teams. Otterbein University finished as the top Division III women's team with 49 points, placing 10th overall.
 
In the women's 6k event, sophomore Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) earned her first career All-Ohio honors with a career-best time of 22:49.7 to finish fourth out of 148 Division III runners and 43rd overall, improving on her previous career best by 16.4 seconds. Freshman Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover) also earned All-Ohio honors in her first career with an 8k race in 23:48.5 to finish 30th in Division III and 124th overall.
 
Freshman Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) just missed out on All-Ohio honors by finishing 36th in Division III and 131st overall with a time of 23:48.5. Sophomore Claire Makowski (Bethel Park, Pa.) finished 69th in Division III and 182nd overall with a time of 24:49.4. Just a few tenths of a second behind the sophomore was freshman Lizzy Gilreath (Mentor). Gilreath rounded out the Yellow Jackets top five with a 71st place finish in Division III and 184th overall with a time of 24:49.8.
 

BW will have a week to recover and continue training before racing in the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College, on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oberlin College Cross Country Course.
