Chlad’s Career-High Unable to Help Upset Bid Against OAC Leader

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference right side hitter Alayna Chlad (Kent/Roosevelt) had a career-high 15 kills but the Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team was unable to pull off the upset against OAC-leader Otterbein University in the Rike Center.

The Yellow Jackets (15-12, 3-4 OAC) fell in four sets to the Cardinals (15-11, 5-1 OAC), who remains tied for first place in the OAC Standings and has won four straight OAC matches, by scores of 14-25, 26-24, 26-28 and 11-25.

In addition to Chlad on the offensive side, senior middle hitter Markema Winters(Akron/Firestone) tallied seven digs and junior outside hitter Anna Miley (West Salem/Northwestern) had six. Junior middle hitter Kaitlin Burgess (Bentonville, Ark. /Silver Lake Regional {Mass.}) and freshman outside hitter Lauryn Wright (Orrville) each contributed four.
Senior Katie Primeau (Pemberville/Eastwood) set up the offense with 21 assists.

Sophomore libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) led the defense with match-high 24 digs.  Miley recorded a career-high 13 digs while freshman outside hitter Melissa Metz (Medina/Our Lady of the Elms) and senior defensive specialist Paige Pileski (Elyria) each added 11.

BW is back in action on Tuesday, October 28 when the Yellow Jackets host the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears for an OAC match in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7 p.m.  Fans can follow all of the action live at http://tinyurl.com/bwonuvolley.   The final regular season match is on Saturday, November 1 when the team hosts an OAC match against Capital University on Seniors' and Parents' Day in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 1 p.m.
