Nockengost Earns First Career OAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Weekly Accolade

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) was named the OAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for the first time in her career.

Nockengost, a music education major led BW with a victory and a third-place finish in a loss to NCAA Division II Rollins College during its winter break training trip in Winter Park, Florida.   She won the 50-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 28.41 seconds and was third in the 50-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 34.52. In addition, Nockengost swam the third leg on the second-place 200-yard medley relay team that touched the wall in a time of 1:55.04.

For her career, Nockengost is the current Ohio Athletic Conference Champion in the 100-yard butterfly that she won in a career-best time of 57.83.  Nockengost is also an All-OAC performer as a member of the school-record holder 800-medley relay team that took second at last year's conference championships. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, January 11 when it travels to Canton for a non-conference dual meet against NCAA Division II Malone University in the C.T. Branin Natatorium at 7 p.m.   BW returns to OAC action on Friday, January 18 when it travels to Ada to take on Ohio Northern University in ONU Sports Center Natatorium at 7 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets return home on Saturday, January 19 for an OAC dual meet against crosstown rival John Carroll University in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 1 p.m.
