BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Waynesburg (Pa.) College by a final score of 3-0 on Tressel Field inside of George Finnie Stadium.

BW (3-4) opened the match with an aggressive mentality, getting their first shot just 37 seconds into the game. BW continued to attack and was able to break through 10 minutes into the half. Sophomore forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) continued her great week as she booted one past the keeper. The attack continued with freshman forward Natalie Stewart (Blacklick/Gahanna Lincoln) finding the back of the net less than two minutes later. Waynesburg (3-2) was able to get on the offensive, however, the BW back line held strong, and Waynesburg was held scoreless.

BW locked down Waynesburg in the second half holding them to zero shots. Offensively, BW maintained their aggression putting up 10 shots. In the 81 minute, BW received a corner kick and did not miss the opportunity. Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Michelina Rush (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) was able to head in a shot to extend the BW lead to 3-0. Eight minutes later, Rush got another good look and rifled one past the keeper.

In the net for the BW, freshman goalkeeper Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) made two saves on the two shots she faced.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, September 22 when they travel to Adrian, Mich. to take on Adrian College at 7:00 pm inside of Docking Stadium.
