#24 Softball Reels in OAC Split with Muskingum

EW CONCORD, Ohio – The 24th-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University softball team split an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with Muskingum University on Donna J. Newberry Field.

BW (27-7, 8-4 OAC), who is now 9-9 in last 18 games with Muskingum (25-9, 9-3 OAC), dropped the opener by a final score of 3-1 but won the finale by a score of 11-4.

In game one, the Yellow Jackets scored one run on four hits as they plated their lone run in the third.  The Fighting Muskies scored three runs on four hits as they pushed a run across in the fourth and two in the sixth.

The BW offense was led by junior center fielder Macy Leach (Westerville/Central) as she went 2-for-4. Senior catcher Sami Minor (North Royalton) and senior left fielder Abbie Thompson (Madison) 

In the circle, freshman right hander Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name), who is this week's OAC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, took the loss (16-3) as she allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

In game two, the Yellow Jackets scored 11 runs on 13 hits as they plated three runs in the third, one in the fourth sparked by the three-run homerun from sophomore first baseman Mackenzie Milligan (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy), one in the fifth and three in the seventh.   Muskingum scored four runs on seven hits as it pushed one run across the plate in the third, one in the fourth and two in the seventh.

The BW offense was led by Milligan and Minor as the duo went 3-for-4.  Milligan had a homerun, run scored and three RBIs.  Minor had an RBI.  Leach was 3-for-5 with a double, run scored and two RBIs. Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC right fielder Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.

In the circle, sophomore All-OAC left hander Abby Cosart (Lima/Bath) improved to 9-4 as she allowed four runs on seven hits with one strikeout and three walks in six innings. Camarati pitched the final three outs as she did not allow a run on no hits with one strikeout and one walk.

The Yellow Jackets close out the home portion of their regular season schedule on Tuesday, April 16 and Friday, April 19 with a pair of OAC doubleheaders against Heidelberg University and Capital University.   On Tuesday, BW hosts Heidelberg at 3 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets close out the homestand on Friday with a Seniors' Day doubleheader against Capital at 1 p.m.
