Four Men's Tennis Student-Athletes Land on Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Four Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis student-athletes have landed on the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Senior Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick), junior two-time All-OAC selection Jake Elbin (Findlay), senior three-time All-OAC selection Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) and senior four-time All-OAC selection Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) are four of the 62 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this spring.

Boyer, who earns his second career Academic All-OAC honor, is a sport management and business administration double major who carries a 3.552 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. In his career, Boyer had a 31-21 singles record and a mark of 34-18 in doubles play. 

Elbin, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a sport management major who carries a 3.552 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete. Elbin additionally received Academic All-OAC recognition this past winter as a member of the men's basketball team. For his career, Elbin owns a 48-13 singles mark and a record of 38-23 in doubles action. 

Harris, who is named to his third straight Academic All-OAC team, is a marketing and film studies double major who carries a 3.804 GPA. Off the court, he is a Dean's List student; a Jacket Scholar; a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete; a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Dayton C. Miller and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies; and a 2017 summer intern at the Center for Innovation and Growth. In his career, Harris posted a record of 53-17 in singles play and a doubles mark of 74-25.

Polifrone, who also earns his third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.807 GPA. He is a Dean's List student; a Jacket Scholar; a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete; a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Chi Alpha Sigma and Dayton C. Miller honor societies; a member of the BW Eta Alpha chapter of the Order of Omega honor society; and a two-time recipient of the BW Academic Excellence Award for having the highest GPA on the men's tennis team. For his career, Polifrone compiled a 78-19 singles record and an 81-23 doubles mark.
