PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – Sophomore attack Derek Andrews (Alden, N.Y. / Iroquois) scored three goals and added five assists for eight points to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team to an 18-4 non-conference victory against LaRoche (Pa.) College on the Lacrosse Field inside the Kerr Fitness and Sports Center this afternoon.

Along with Andrews, sophomore attack Alex Binner (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville North) scored four goals and dished out two assists for six points. Junior midfielder Alex Fioritto (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit) had his second straight strong performance winning 15 of 23 face-offs, and sophomore goalkeeper Mike Dizonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Stevenson) remained unbeaten and made six saves.

LaRoche (0-3) was led by senior goalkeeper Isaiah Wilson who made 14 saves.

The Yellow Jackets went on a 6-0 lead to start the game when sophomore attack Binner netted his second goal of the game with 2:08 left to go in the first. In the final two minutes both teams scored a goal to give BW a 7-1 lead at the end of the first period.

LaRoche outscored the Yellow Jackets 2-1 in the first five minutes of the second quarter to cut the BW lead to 8-3 when freshman midfielder Sam Crum found the back of the net. The Yellow Jackets went on a 3-0 run to close out the first half and give them an 11-3 lead.

BW scored the only four goals in the third period to take a 15-3 going into the fourth. Binner scored two goals and Andrews' tallied up three assists in the third quarter.

In the final quarter the Yellow Jackets outscored the Redhawks, 3-1 to hold on for the victory. Freshman midfielder Chad Steinwachs (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville North), Andrews, and senior midfielder Steve Wozniak (Strongsville / Padua Fransciscan) scored in the final period.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Monday, March 7 when they travel to Lexington, Kentucky to face Transylvania University in a non-conference game inside of Pat Deacon Stadium at 5 p.m.
