WILMINGTON, Ohio -- The 16th-ranked (April 6 D3baseball.com Division III national poll) Baldwin Wallace University baseball team swept Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington College in an OAC doubleheader at Tewksbury-Delaney Field. The Yellow Jackets (16-5, 4-4 OAC) won the first game, 12-2, and captured the nightcap, 7-5.
In the first game, BW scored two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and six more in the sixth to build a 10-0 lead. Wilmington (3-19, 0-8 OAC) scored both of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to close its deficit to 10-2. The Yellow Jackets scored their final two runs in the seventh.
At the plate, senior Division III All-American first baseman Kyle Chontos (Pickerington/ North) was 3-for-4 with a double, grand slam home run, two runs scored and six runs batted-in (RBI). Freshman catcher Trent Kaltenbach (Plain City/ Kettering Alter) was 2-for-4 with a double, one run scored and two RBI. In addition, sophomore second baseman Cole Nieto (Brunswick/ Cleveland St. Ignatius) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, and junior Academic All-OAC center fielder John Taylor (Hudson) was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
On the mound, junior Connor Murphy (Westford, Mass./ Northeast) started and pitched the first six innings to earn his first victory this season and improve to 1-0. He allowed just four Wilmington base hits, two runs (both earned), struck out four and walked just one. He was followed by two scoreless innings of relief from junior Tom Loeffler (Shaker Heights), including two strikeouts, and another scoreless inning of relief from freshman Nick Patrone (Bellaire) with one whiff.
In the second game, BW scored two runs in the third and one in each the fifth and sixth and two in the seventh to build a 6-0 lead. After Wilmington scored once in the bottom of the seventh and four more in the eighth to make it close at 6-5. BW added its final run in the top of the ninth to earn a sweep.

He was followed to the mound by junior Matt Wittels (Lyndhurst/ Brush) in the sixth, junior Academic All-OAC outfielder/ pitcher John Taylor (Hudson) and Loeffler in the seventh. Junior "stopper" Brandon Cichocki (Walled Lake, Mich./ Central) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth with one whiff to earn his third save this season and increased his school career-record to 13.
