BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Director of Athletics Steve Thompson is pleased to announce that Kate Latkovic will take over the women's volleyball program as its next head coach.

"We are excited to have Kate take over our women's volleyball program," stated Thompson.   "Her competitive fire really stood out through the process and that passion will serve her well at the helm of our women's volleyball program.  Additionally her connections through the club and high school volleyball scene will be a critical component of her winning strategy moving forward."

Latkovic comes to BW after serving the past nine seasons as the head volleyball coach at local St. Joseph Academy. She is no stranger to Berea as she served as an assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

I'm very excited for the opportunity to coach at BW, said Latkovic. "I want to thank Mr. Thompson and the committee for trusting in me to lead this program. The location, facilities and support staff at BW make this an elite institution for young women to grow academically, athletically, and socially."

While at St. Joseph Academy, Latkovic had a career record of 175-57.  She led the Jaguars to seven district championships, four regional championships and an Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I State Runner-up in 2017.  Latkovic was a three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Award recipient and a two-time OHSAA District Coach of the Year Award winner. Off the court, her players maintained a 3.8 grade point average.

Latkovic was also the Junior Olympic Volleyball Club Coach for Cleveland Volleyball Company and Toledo Premier Volleyball from 2000-15.  She also served as an assistant coach for NCAA Division I Cleveland State University for two seasons.

Latkovic earned a Bachelor of Arts in sport management from the University of Toledo and an Associate Degree in adolescent education from Owens Community College

Latkovic and her husband, Pete, reside in North Olmsted with their three children, Pete, Lucas and Drew.
