Kolonchuk Named OAC Track Athlete of the Week

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -   For the first time this season and the first time in her track and field career, sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester) has been named OAC Track Athlete of the Week.

Kolonchuk won the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 12:09.96 this past weekend at the Washington & Lee Carnival. She placed 14th in the 1500-meter run in a time of 5:08.95. She currently leads the OAC in both steeplechase and 1500-meter run from her personal records this weekend. On top of leading the OAC, Kolonchuk is ranked 16th nationally in steeplechase.

Before transitioning to the outdoor portion of the schedule, Koloncuk ended the indoor season helping her relay squad place first in the distance medley in a time of 12:22.91 at the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships earning her first All-OAC honor.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when it travels to Pittsburgh, PA for a two-day meet at Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday, March 25-26, hosted by Carnegie Mellon in Gesling Stadium.
