
BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams lost in dual meet competition to Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center.
The Yellow Jacket women's team (5-6, 1-3 OAC) fell to John-Carroll (6-2, 4-0 OAC), 89-197.
Leading the way for the Yellow Jacket women were junior All-OAC diver Maddie Fortune (Akron / Firestone) and junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC performer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) who both finished first in two events. Fortune won both 1-meter diving events, with scores of 162.35 and 220.25. Ashbaugh placed first in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:22.88 and the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.35.
Also placing first was freshman Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) in the in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:30.48, and placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:28.66. Miller also placed third in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:21.36.
The BW swimmers and divers are back in action next Friday, January 30 when the team hosts Defiance College and NCAA Division II Ursuline College in the BW Natatorium at 6 p.m. The next day, Saturday, January 31, BW hosts cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University on Seniors' & Parents' Day at 1 p.m.
