Women’s Soccer Knocks Off Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team took down Oberlin College in a non-conference game on Shults Field by a final score of 2-1.

BW Leaders (3-0)

  • Sophomore defender Kasey Golaboff (Parma Heights/Valley Forge) scored her first collegiate goal
  • Junior forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) scored one goal for her team-leading third goal of the season.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Abbey Pheiffer (Northville, Mich./Novi) led with two saves.

Oberlin Leaders (2-1)

  • Adrienne Soto scored the lone goal.
  • Benji Maddox led with seven saves

First Half (1-1, Tied) 

  • Soto kicked off the scoring as she snuck one right past the keeper.
  • Late in the half, Rice hit the back of the net to equalize things at 1-1.
  • The Yellow Jackets led the half in shots with 11 compared to the Yeowomen 6.
  • The teams both had three corner kick opportunities.

Second Half (2-1, BW)

  • Golaboff scored the lone goal in the 57th minute.
  • BW led with 14 shots in the half.
  • The Yellow Jackets defense limited Oberlin to five shots in the half.
  • Both teams had two corner kick opportunities.

BW is back in action on Friday, September 9 when it hosts its Home Opener against No. 12 nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University in a non-conference game on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
