BW Women Defeat Bethany 6-1; Earn Fourth Win of Season
BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer defeated Bethany (W. Va.) College, 6-1, on Tuesday evening on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.

In the first half, BW (4-5-1) scored the first goal of the evening at the 14:07 mark by junior midfielder/forward Alex Elliot (Blacklick/IMG Academy), as she scored her third goal of the campaign. Elliot knocked in a header goal off of a cross pass from senior forward Nicole Boyd (Warren/Howland) to give BW an early 1-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets attempted 13 shots near the net to the Bisons and BW attempted seven shots on goal to Bethany's one.

In the second half, Baldwin Wallace added to the 1-0 lead at the 54:37 mark as Elliot scored her second goal of the game and has tallied four goals on the season to give BW a 2-0 advantage. Minutes after, Bethany (3-6) would answer at the net with a penalty kick scored by Brittany Fullbright to cut the Yellow Jacket lead in half 2-1. Undaunted by the Bison's penalty kick, the Yellow Jackets would answer with a goal and her first of the season at the 61:21 mark by midfielder Bree Gilliam (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood), scoring off of a goalie save to give BW a commanding 3-1 lead. A few minutes later, Courtney Schutz (Mentor) would join the scoring fest as Schutz would kick her second goal of the season at the 66:06 mark, putting the Yellow Jackets up 4-1.

At the 72:25 mark junior midfielder Katie Klespies (Chicago, Ill./ University of Chicago Laboratory) added BW's fifth goal of the match and her first of the season. Cheryl Bell (Piqua) was credited on the assist. The final BW goal of the game came from junior defender Emma Harding (Akron/ Revere) at the 80:12 mark, as she dribbled into the box and kicked her first goal into the net from the bottom left corner to give BW a 6-1 victory. Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) earned her fourth win of the season and had four saves at the net. 

The women will hit the road to Oberlin College for a non-conference match Thursday, October 2, with kickoff beginning at 7:30 p.m.
