BEREA, Ohio – The No. 9 nationally-ranked and defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University team opened the home portion of its schedule as it defeated No. 11 nationally-ranked University of Mount Union in OAC opening match for both teams by a final score of 31-7 in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (1-0, 1-0 OAC), who earned victories in eight of 10 matches, has won six of the last eight meetings against Mount Union (0-1, 0-1 OAC).

  • 125-pound match: Junior Jacob Decatur (Akron/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) won by an 8-3 decision over Jack Stanley
  • 133-pound match: Sophomore Jaden Hinton (Glassboro, N.J.) won by 15-15 major decision over Erik Gerback
  • 141-pound match: David Massey won by a 5-1 decision over junior Zak Anderson (Elyria/Midview)
  • 149-pound match: Sophomore Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) pinned Jake Visintine, in 6:13
  • 157-pound match: Senior All-American and No. 3 nationally-ranked Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) won by a 7-1 decision over Jeff Dunfee
  • 165-pound match: Senior All-American and No. 5 nationally-ranked Dalton Leightner (Ravenna/Rootstown) won by a 5-2 decision Chris Anderson
  • 174-pound match: Junior Academic All-OAC Griffin Rathburn (New Albany/Bishop Hartley) won by a 4-2 over David Reinhart
  • 184-pound match: Junior All-OAC and No. 5 nationally-ranked Lucas Salmon (Sandusky/Perkins) won by 15-0 technical fall in 4:02 over George Lassnick
  • 197-pound match: Junior All-American and No. 10 nationally-ranked Doug Byrne (Wickliffe) won by a 16-5 major decision over Tyler Stepic
  • 285-pound match: Grant Martin won by a 12-4 major decision over senior Jarod Miller (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) , 12-4
