Men’s Tennis Shuts Out Berea (Ky.) in Rescheduled Match

MASON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team shuts out Berea (Ky.) College by a final score of 9-0 in a rescheduled match at the Linder Family Tennis Center. 

BW (12-2) and Berea (2-12) were originally scheduled to play on March 18 but the match was postponed due to inclement weather.  

The Yellow Jackets won all three doubles matches. Senior Academic All-OAC players Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley) and Jake Liebler (Medina) won at first doubles by a score of 8-2.  Senior Brian Carano (Akron/Revere) and freshman Jake Elbin (Findlay) secured second doubles by a score of 8-0. Sophomore All-OAC player Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) and sophomore Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick) took third doubles by a score of 8-1

BW won all six singles matches to secure the win. Polifrone picked up the win at first singles by scores of 6-2 and 7-5. Katz secured second singles by identical scores of 6-0.  Carano took third singles by identical scores of 6-0.  Liebler captured fourth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.  Elbin brought home victory at fifth singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-1.  Boyer won at sixth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

BW is back in action at the Linder Family Tennis Center on Friday, April 14 for a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference matches against Marietta College and Muskingum University at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.  The next home match is on Tuesday, April 18 when the team hosts an OAC match against Ohio Northern University on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.
