Men’s Swimming and Diving Falls to Case Western In Season Finale

CLEVELAND – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team drops a non-conference match up against Case Western Reserve by a final score of 245-49 in the Veale Natatorium.

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:

  • Junior Alec McNeill (Avon Lake) placed fifth in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 12:03.25 and placed fifth in the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 29.33 seconds.
  • Freshmen Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) finished eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.23 and fifth in 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:27.55.
  • Freshman Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) finished fourth the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.48 seconds and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.32 seconds.
  • Freshman Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) won the 100-yard backstroke in a time a of 55.29 and second in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 25.96 seconds.  
  • Sophomore Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:54.80 and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.56.
  • Freshmen Aidan Hicks (Oneida) placed fourth in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 25.60 seconds.

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • The 200-yard medley relay of Tofoya, McQueary, Kingsley, and Kooyman placed third in a time of 1:40.83.
  • The 200-yard freestyle squad of Kingsley, freshmen Ethan Morrison (Conneaut), McQueary, and Junior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) placed third in a time of 1:31.33.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action at the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday-Saturday, February 17-19 at the Ocasek Natatorium in University of Akron. Preliminary action begins each day at 10 a.m. with finals to be held each night at 6 p.m.
