BW Men’s LAX Team Honored as Division III’s Top Scoring Defense

BEREA, Oh. --- The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team had the lowest scoring defense in NCAA Division III during the 2015 season and will be awarded a plaque for its accomplishment.

The Yellow Jacket defense allowed a Division III-low 5.73 goals-per-game en route to a school-record 13 victories, including a school-record 11 straight to start the season, and a 13-2 record. Ohio Wesleyan University ranked second at 5.79 goals per contest.

"I think this award is a great accomplishment for our young program," said Head Coach Jason Tarnow. "Its a great reflection of all the hard work that the student athletes in our program have put forth. I know the young men in our program that comprise our defense will be especially proud.  As a program, we hope to continue to build from the success of this past season."

A number of outstanding student-athletes contributed to BW's top-ranked scoring defense. Some included freshman All-Ohio Athletic Conference goalkeeper Mike DiZonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson), sophomore two-time first-team All-OAC defender Josiah Greve (Milford) and sophomore defender Michael Dickey (Rocky River).

DiZonno started all 15 games and played 795:05 minutes, allowed 6.26 gpg. with a .539 save percentage and 97 saves.  Greve played all 15 games, was second with 42 ground balls and led the team with 30 caused turnovers. Dickey played in all 15 games and had 36 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers.
