BEREA, Ohio --  Baldwin Wallace University senior standout student-athlete and football linebacker Dan O'Brien (Warren/Howland) has been named to the 2014 CAPITAL ONE Division III Academic All-America second-team.

O'Brien is the 94th Yellow Jacket and 29th BW football student-athlete to be honored as an Academic All-American since the program was established. BW has more Academic All-Americans than any other Ohio Athletic Conference school and the second most of any NCAA Division III school in Ohio (Ohio Wesleyan University has the most).

O'Brien, who carries a 3.803 grade average in neuroscience and biology, was a team captain and led the Yellow Jackets with 75 total tackles and has 155 career stops. The two-time All-OAC, two-time Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 student-athlete, was a two-time OAC Defensive Player of the Week and this year's Dick Miller Family & Community Day Player of the Game versus Bluffton University.

In addition to his football exploits, O'Brien is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies.

"We are very proud of Dan, and he is certainly very deserving of the honor and all the recognition he is getting," said 13-year veteran Head Coach John Snell. "He is one of our best in terms of achieving his goals academically as a student-athlete, playing the game of football, working to get better every day and being a team leader.  Dan is an outstanding example of what we want in a BW football student-athlete."

BW finished 5-5 overall this season. During the last 49 years, BW, including 45 winning and two .500 seasons.
