Chontos Setting Baseball Records, More to Come

BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University senior All-American first baseman Kyle Chontos (Pickerington/ North) is one of the best baseball players in Yellow Jacket history, and he's hoping his senior season ends with another trip to the NCAA Division III College World Series.

He's played in more games and stepped to the plate more than any other BW baseball student-athlete in the program's history. He's already tied the school career-record for doubles. And, last spring, Chontos led BW to a school-record 30 wins and its first-ever Division III College World Series appearance.

Chontos already owns the BW career record for games played (140) at at-bats (523), is tied for the most doubles (47) and is three hits away from breaking 2009 All-American and Academic All-American center fielder Cody Kidd's record of 184. Chontos has a .346 career batting average (181-for-523) with 125 runs scored, four triples, 10 home runs, 121 runs batted-in and 32 stolen bases in 37 attempts.  In addition, Chontos is on pace to break records for RBIs, base-on-balls drawn and will finish in the Top-5 in runs scored.

This Saturday, March 28, the ninth-ranked (D3baseball.com Division III national poll from March 15) baseball team, 8-2 overall, hosts a key Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader versus 18th-ranked Marietta College. The first game begins at 1 p.m. at Heritage Field.
