Men's & Women's Cross Country Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, Three Student-Athletes Awarded All-Academic Athletes

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's cross-country teams have been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Teams. 

On the men's side, junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference runner Carter Almady (Brunswick) was named as a USTFCCCA Men's All-Academic Athlete. Almady was recognized as a pre-physical therapy major. 

On the women's side, freshman All-OAC performer Abbie George (Ebensburg, Pa. / Central Cambria) and junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) were named USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Athletes. George was recognized as a sport management major, and Murphy was recognized as a hospitality and tourism management & marketing double major.

To be eligible for this distinction, individuals must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and have finished in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

The women's team was among the top 75 teams that qualified. The women's team had a GPA of 3.662. The men's team were in the top 100 teams that were able to qualify. The men's team had a GPA of 3.448.

Teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifications, to be considered for All-Academic honors.

As the cross-country teams are also current members of the BW indoor track and field teams, Almady, GeorgeMurphy and the rest of the Yellow Jackets are back in action today at the Third Jud Logan Light Giver Open hosted by Ashland University, and the Dan Kinsey Invite hosted by Oberlin College.
