Four Women's Volleyball Student-Athletes Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Four Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball student-athletes have been selected to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team.

Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference right side hitter Allison Weiner (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales) has been selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the second time in her career while senior All-OAC setter Olivia Zawadzki (Hilliard/Darby), sophomore Academic All-OAC middle hitter Maleia Thurber (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral), and sophomore Academic All-OAC setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.) earn the accolade for the first time in their careers. The four student-athletes now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, which will be announced on January 9.

In order to qualify for Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically and athletically, must carry a 3.50 or higher grade point average and must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games.

Weiner appeared in 25 matches and 71 sets for BW this fall. She was second on the team with 151 kills, averaging 2.13 kills per set. Weiner also posted 32 digs and was fourth on the team with a career-high 20 total blocks. In her career, she has totaled 453 kills, 101 digs, and 43 total blocks. Academically, Weiner has earned a 3.973 grade point average as a public health major. She is also a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

Zawadzki, an Academic All-OAC selection, appeared in 25 matches and 82 sets for BW this fall. She led the team and was sixth in the OAC with 568 assists, averaging 6.93 assists per set. Zawadzki was also third on the team with 167 digs and led the team with 38 service aces. She also added 31 kills and 12 total blocks. In her BW career, Zawadzki has a total of 1,386 assists, 376 digs, 76 aces, 90 kills, and 59 total blocks. She currently sits at eleventh place on BW's career assists leaders list. Academically, Zawadzki has earned a 3.893 grade point average as a psychology major. She is also a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

Thurber appeared in 25 matches and 83 sets for BW this fall. She was third on the team with 138 kills, averaging 1.66 kills per set. Thurber was also second on the team and fourth in the OAC with a .288 hitting percentage and was second on the team with 43 total blocks. She also added eight digs and five assists. In her career, she has totaled 291 kills, 26 digs, nine assists, and 93 total blocks. Academically, Thurber has earned a 3.882 grade point average as a communication sciences and disorders major. She is also a Dean's List student.

Blazetic appeared in all 25 matches and 85 sets for BW this fall. She was second on the team with a career-high 327 assists, averaging 3.85 assists per set. Blazetic also tallied a career-high 117 digs and was second on the team with 28 service aces. She also added a career-high 13 kills. In her BW career, Blazetic has a total of 335 assists, 141 digs, 34 aces, and 13 kills. Academically, Blazetic has earned a 3.889 grade point average as a business administration major. She is also a Dean's List student.
