Volleyball Team Gives Back to the Community With Clinic

BEREA -- On a recent Friday evening in September, the Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team took time out of its busy schedule and preparation for a weekend tournament to give back to the Berea community by doing a volleyball clinic for 50 students in grades three through six at the Academy of St. Adalbert.

The youngsters worked with each Yellow Jacket volleyball student-athlete on the fundamentals of the game and then they had a chance to play games with collegiate volleyball players.

Head Coach Vicki Brault is in her 19th season with the Yellow Jackets and knows the value of giving back to the community. Like all of the members of the BW coaching staff, she believes that community service is a key factor in her team's success and is one step in building charcater for each student-athlete.

"I am so proud of my team, said Brault, who has won 416 career matches, including 346 at BW.  "The energy and enthusiam that these young ladies brought to the clinic was amazing.  It gives me great satisfaction to see all the smiling faces of both my own student-athletes and the students from St. Adalbert.

"Giving back to the community is a rewarding experience," continued Brault.  And, we had a lot of fun too!"

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21 when they compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Challenge hosted by Capital University.   BW plays Hanover (Ind.) College and Transylvania (Ky.) University on Friday at 4 and 8 p.m. then on Saturday plays Bluffton University and the College of Mount St. Joseph at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.     The next home match for the Yellow Jackets is on Saturday, September 28 against Muskingum University at 12:30 p.m.
