Barnett, Chosa, and Others Earn All-OAC Honors; Women's Outdoor Track and Field Finishes Fourth After Day Two of OAC Championships

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team finished in fourth place after the second and final day of the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Heidelberg University.

BW was fourth of 10 teams with 83 points. Ohio Northern University won the meet with 228 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Junior All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) earned her 12th career outdoor All-OAC honors after winning the 800-meter run and the 1500-meter run. She finished the 800-meter in a time of 2:11.31 and the 1500-meter in a time of 4:41.89. Murphy was also named the Dave Lehman Outstanding Outdoor Distance Co-Runner of the Year.
  • Junior All-OAC sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) earned her fifth career outdoor All-OAC honors after placing second in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. Collier finished the 200-meter in a time of 24.77 and the 400-meter in a time of 55.70.
  • Freshman All-OAC sprinter Bri Hay (Miami, Fla. / Miramar) earned her first career outdoor All-OAC honors after finishing third in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.25. Hay also competed in the 200-meter dash and placed seventh in a time of 26.09.

Field events highlighted:

  • Freshman All-OAC thrower Amyah Chosa (Jemez Pueblo, N.M. / Jemez Valley) earned her first career outdoor All-OAC honors after finishing third in the shot put with a mark of 13.03 meters.
  • Freshman Rylee Gorrell (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City Area) placed fourth in the high jump with a distance of 1.63 meters.
  • Freshman Faith Timko (Wooster) finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.54 meters.

On the relay side:

  • In the 4x100 relay squad, Collier, Hay, freshman Alanna Barnett (Sheffield Lake / Brookside) and sophomore Morgan Aloi (Sylvania / Northview) earned All-OAC honors after placing third in a time of 48.52.

BW is back in action on Thursday, May 9 as it hosts the Harrison Dillard Twilight (Throws Only) at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Throws Facility.
