Women's Indoor Track and Field Sits in Fourth Place After Day One at OAC Championships

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field stand in fourth place with 22 points after first day of the two-day OAC Championships hosted by Mount Union inside Peterson Fieldhouse. Sitting in first is John Carroll with 82 points. 

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the 500m in a time of 1:16.89 earning her fourth career All-OAC honors. 
  • Freshmen Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) finished seventh in the 400m dash in a time of 1:01.59.

Field event highlights:

  • Freshman Catherine Dial (Cleveland / Saint Joseph Academy) placed 11th in a distance of 13.10m
  • Senior Gloria Jurcisek (Cleveland / Normandy) placed 11th in the long jump with a distance of 4.85m. 

On the relay side:

  • The All-OAC distance medley squad of sophomore Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester), Collier, Murphy and senior All-American runner Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) won in a time of 12:22.91, all adding All-OAC honors to their careers. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow for the last day of the OAC Championships at Mount Union inside Peterson Fieldhouse . Field event action begins at 10 a.m. with track events at 2:30 p.m.
