Murphy, Buckhannon Sweep Weekly OAC Track and Field Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Baldwin Wallace University freshman All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) and senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) have swept the OAC Women's Track and Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors. 

Murphy earns her first accolade of the outdoor season and the second of her career, regardless of season, while Buckhannon is honored for the third time this season and the sixth of her career. 

At the Monica Scott Invitational on Saturday, Murphy won the 800-meter run in a career-best 2:15.79, which currently ranks 24th in NCAA Division III. The freshman was also part of the winning 4x400-meter relay team, which crossed the finish line in 4:27.06. 

Meanwhile, Buckhannon swept both the discus throw and the hammer throw events. The senior tossed a season-best mark of 135 feet, 1 inch to win the discus and also notched 170'6" to claim the hammer throw. Buckhannon's discus mark currently ranks 29th nationally. 

BW will host the OAC Tune-Up on Friday, April 30, beginning at 1 p.m. inside George Finnie Stadium.
