Women’s Splits a Pair of OAC Matches in Regular Season Finale

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis closed out the regular season portion of its schedule as it split a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference matches.

In its first match, BW (3-12, 1-5 OAC) fell to crosstown rival John Carroll University (9-8, 4-2 OAC) in a rescheduled home match by a final score of 9-0 on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.  The Yellow Jackets closed out the day as it defeated Marietta College (0-6, 0-6  OAC) in a rescheduled road match by a final score of 9-0 inside the Beren Tennis Center.

  • Senior Academic All-OAC Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) fell at first singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-2
  •  Junior Academic All-OAC Emma Trost (Norwalk) fell at second singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-2
  • Freshman Colleen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) fell at third singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Freshmen Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) fell at fourth singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Senior Academic All-OAC Juliet Penrod (Macedonia/Nordonia) fell at fifth singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • Freshman Gillian Brown (Brunswick) fell at sixth singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2
  • Yates and Andersen fell at first doubles by a score of 8-3
  • Trost and freshman Samantha Thielen (Toledo/Sylvania Northview) fell at second doubles by a score of 8-1
  • Koutouras and freshmen Aniya Qualls (Elyria/Midview) fell at third doubles by a score of 8-0

Marietta Results

  • Yates won first singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Andersen won at second singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Koutouras won at third singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-1
  • Trost won at fourth singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-0
  • Penrod won at fifth singles by forfeit
  • Thielen won at sixth singles by forfeit
  • Yates and Andersen won at first doubles by a score of 8-0
  • Trost and Koutouras won at second doubles by a score of 8-1
  • Penrod and Thielen won at third doubles by forfeit 

BW is back in action on Tuesday, April 30 when they travel to University Heights for an OAC Tournament quarterfinals match against John Carroll inside the Short Family Tennis Center at 3:30 p.m.
