Women's Soccer Falls to No. 21 Otterbein in OAC Matchup

WESTERVILLE, Ohio –The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team fell to No. 21 nationally-ranked Otterbein University in an Ohio athletic Conference game by a final score of 5-0 on Clements Field. 

BW's (7-7) loss against Otterbein (10-1-1) came in its first contest versus a nationally ranked opponent this season.

Both teams came out strong on the ball in the first half. The Cardinals came out firing with five shots on goal in the frame compard to the Yellow Jackets' one. The first half closed out with a score of 2-0 in favor of Otterbein, with BW still keeping up a fight. The Cardinals' goals were scored by junior Priscilla Severance and sophomore Delaney Earl.

Momentum was lost in the second half when the Yellow Jackets saw faced another five shots, with Otterbein netting three. Junior Myiah Kelley contributed with two goals in the period and freshman Grace Dunaway rounded out the Cardinals scoring at five goals. BW managed to finish the game off with five total shot attempts, but ultimately could not capitalize in the goal column as time expired.

In net for the Yellow Jackets was senior goalkeeper Emma Bruno (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park), who made five saves on 10 shots faced in 79 minutes of play, and saw her record drop to 7-5 on the year. Sophomore goalkeeper Lyndsey Valentine (Springboro) made an appearance between the pipes in the second half, logging approximately eleven minutes of action, while facing zero shots on goal.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, October 16 when it hosts an OAC matchup against Heidelberg University on the Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
