Women's Lacrosse is Defeated by Oberlin in Non-Conference Game

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team faced Oberlin College for its final non-conference contest of the season. An early deficit was too much for the Yellow Jackets, as they fell to the Yeowomen by a final score of 15-5. 

BW (3-9) was led by senior All-OAC midfielder Kaitlyn Hradek (Olmsted Falls), as she scored three goals to lead the Yellow Jackets. Hradek's hat trick was her third in BW's last four games.

Oberlin (6-4) was led by junior attack Abbie Patchen, as she recorded a game-high six points including four goals and two assists. Freshman attack Megan Hiller added a game-high five goals for the Yeowomen.

FIRST QUARTER

  • 9:59 - The Yeowomen struck first, courtesy of a man-up goal by Hiller
  • 6:54 - Patchen doubled Oberlin's advantage on a free position shot
  • 4:35 - Oberlin's Lauren Mills added her team's second goal from a free position shot in just as many minutes
  • 3:03 - Patchen's second of the quarter capped a 4-0 Oberlin run to start the game. 

SECOND QUARTER

  • 11:08 - Senior All-OAC midfielder Hradek (Olmsted Falls) got the Yellow Jackets on the board, assisted by sophomore attack Lily Tope (Delaware/Hayes)

THIRD QUARTER

  • Oberlin went on a 5-0 run out of the halftime break, with goals by Hiller (13:41 & 10:33), Audrey Koren (9:30 & 4:47), and Patchen (8:20)
  • 1:53 - Freshman attack Carley House (Hilliard/Darby) scored to get the Yellow Jackets back into the scoring column
  • 0:28 - Junior All-OAC midfielder Deanna Loukas (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Eastchester) scored on a free position opportunity 

 FOURTH QUARTER

  • 13:00 - Hiller's fourth of the afternoon put Oberlin up 10-3
  • 12:37 - BW responded moments later, as Hradek scored on a free position shot
  • 12:01 - Hradek completed her hat trick with her second goal in 36 seconds to pull the Yellow Jackets within five
  • Oberlin responded with a quick 4-0 run to seal the game, with goals by Patchen (11:40), Hiller (10:43), Mills (8:27), and Shimabukuro (6:37) 

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, April 15, as they travel to Bexley for an OAC contest against Capital University. The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on the Purmort Field inside Bernlohr Stadium.
