Women’s Golf Takes Third at Defiance Spring Invitational

OTTAWA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team placed third at the Defiance College Spring Invitational at the Moose Landing Country Club.

BW was third of five teams with a two-round total of 334 strokes on the par-72 and 5,605 Moose Landing layout.  John Carroll University was the champion with 291 strokes.

  • Sophomore Alana Smith (Fremont/Ross) fired rounds of 83 and 86 for to finish third of 26 golfers with a two-round total of 169
  • Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference golfer Brooke Newsome (Clyde) finished in fourth place with rounds of a career-best 81 and 93 for a two-day total of 174
  • Senior Chloe Thomas (Norwalk) carded rounds of 100 and 97 for a two-day total of 197
  • Sophomore Marissa Moriconi (Magnolia/Sandy Valley) posted rounds of 118 and 108 for a two-round total of 226

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 3,4 and 5 when they travel to West Lafayette to compete in the OAC Championships hosted by the University of Mount Union at the River Greens Golf Course.
