Edwards of Women’s Basketball Earns Third Career OAC Player of the Week Award

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Lilly Edwards (Dublin/Coffman) of the No. 12 nationally-ranked women's basketball team was named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time in her career.

Edwards helped BW (15-3, 12-1 OAC) to a 2-0 record last week by averaging 19 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. The Yellow Jackets first earned a big win at the University of Mount Union by a 66-51 final score before defeating Otterbein University at home for the annual Play4Kay game, 68-48.

Edwards nearly notched her career high at Mount Union, being just one point shy, tallying 28 points. She shot 11-15 from the field and added nine rebounds. Against the Cardinals, Edwards grabbed a double-double as she posted 10 points and 13 rebounds. She also dished out four assists and added two steals.

This is her second Player of the Week award this season, after previously earning the award on November 29, 2021 after garnering her career high of 29 points in the 76-49 over La Roche (Pa.) University. In her career, Edwards has totaled 1,155 points, 647 rebounds, 88 assists, and 77 steals. Edwards has worked her way into multiple BW top-10 career lists, including career points, career rebounds, career points per game, career rebounds per game, and career made free throws. 

In the OAC, Edwards ranks first in points per game (16.3) and is second in rebounds per game (8.9). She is also second in the OAC in field goal percentage (54.1).  

The Yellow Jackets return to play Wednesday, February 9 as they travel to Ada, Ohio to take on Ohio Northern University in an OAC contest. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. inside ONU Sports Center.
