Toddy Named Inaugural STUNT Head Coach

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Director of Athletics Steve Thompson has announced the hiring of Gretchen Toddy as the University's first STUNT head coach.

"I am really excited for Gretchen to join the coaching staff at Baldwin Wallace and begin to build our 25th varsity program," said Thompson.  "She has a real passion for mentoring and coaching young females and brings a strong background in STUNT and cheer to the position.

Toddy comes to BW after serving as the St. Edward High School cheer team head coach for the past 23 years.

"BW has a long tradition of academic and athletic excellence and consistently leads the field in ongoing innovation," stated Toddy.  "The fact that BW is stepping up to bring the emerging NCAA sport of STUNT to their women's varsity line up is evidence of its commitment to leadership and growth.  This sport offers more opportunities for female student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level.  I am honored to be named the program's first head coach and to build this program from the ground up.  I am thrilled to be leading these student-athletes to the next level at BW."

In addition to St. Edward, she is a lifestyle coach, personal trainer, and wellness consultant.  Toddy has also been an aquatic instructor, high school teacher, and university lecturer.

She is a member of USA Cheer and College STUNT Coach USA as well as being a certified STUNT College Official.

Toddy resides in Berea with her family.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from Texas Woman's University and a Master of Science in sports medicine from the University of Oregon.
