Softball Closes Out 2024 Campaign in NCAA Division III Regional Tournament

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Champion Baldwin Wallace University softball team fell to host DePauw University in an NCAA Division III Regional Tournament game by a final score of 15-3 in five innings on the DePauw Softball Field.

DePauw (29-15-1), who is the second seed, advances to an elimination game against third-seed St. Mary's (Minn.). BW (25-17), who was the fourth seed, ended its campaign.

The Yellow Jackets scored three runs on eight hits as they plated two runs on the blast by freshman third baseman Mia Maddamma (North Royalton) in the third.  The Tigers scored 15 runs on 15 hits as they pushed seven runs across the plate in the third and eight in the fifth.

At the Plate

  • Senior Academic All-OAC center fielder Lexy Coggins (Vermillion/Firelands) went 2-for-3
  • Maddamma went 1-for-2 with a homerun, run scored and two runs batted-in (RBIs)
  • Sophomore All-OAC designated player/right handed pitcher Maddie Lester (Boardman) went 1-for-3
  • Senior All-OAC catcher Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) went 1-for-2 with a run scored
  • Sophomore right fielder Steph Mraz (Strongsville) went 1-for-3
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC second baseman Emily Mau (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) went 1-for-3 with a run scored
  • Sophomore All-OAC shortstop Lucia Wolford (McDonald) went 1-for-3 with an RBI

In the Circle

  • Junior All-OAC righty Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton) suffered the loss as she allowed seven runs on seven hits with a walk in 2.1 innings pitched
  • Lester allowed five runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks in 1.2 innings pitched
  • Junior right hander Taryn Welty (Medina/Wooster) allowed three runs on three hits in one inning pitched
